daffyd, thank you for all those fabulous videos. My dog could be hopeless if she had to live up to those standards!. Maybe it is not the dog, maybe it is the owner??
Look, no one cares how bad your English is, so long as your Scotch is good.

You got that right Peaches...... nine time out of eight it is the owner who has no idea and needs the training. We don't all want show dogs, we want pets.... but we gotta remember who the leader of the pack is and so has our pet!

well daffyd and FG, It has been verified that owners are the success or down fall of puppy training. It doesn't matter if the puppy is stupid or smart.
The puppy went to a dog trainer for 8 sessions. She could sit, sort of stay, was taken out every 1-1/2 hours to a designated place to potty(this was done by lady owner). In one month taken out every 2 hrs and this was working quite well (this was done by lady owner) .
7 months later she sometimes sits, never stays, started hopping up and down on new people, plus the man owner of the house. Dog trainer was called. Dog trainer said: both owners need to give the same command.
After much consultation with dog trainer and 2 trips to the home. Prognosis was that man owner preferred his own commands. Dog trainer and lady owner changed commands to man owner's. Man owner then changed commands again.
Dog trainer said. Buy more puppy pads. Put puppy in room when she jumps on people either in a crate or with a gate with puppy peering out causing guests to think that puppy is being mistreated. Lady owner either move out , maybe with puppy, or buy puppy pads until puppy is 12 yrs old and have bleach soaked pads handy when puppy misses pad. Put puppy in room with man owner when he comes home from work. Be happy puppy sometimes sits.
Lady owner buy reading material and shut herself in another room with door locked and sound turned up on TV or radio so she cannot hear puppy scratching at door when man owner wanders off and forgets to take puppy with him.
